Which file format does my Bernette machine read?
.PES
Bernette embroidery machines read .PES among other formats, so PES is the safe choice for most models. The exact list varies by model and generation, so check the embroidery or USB section of your manual. Your StitchMyPic download also contains DST, JEF and EXP, so whichever format your model lists is already in the ZIP.
All about the .PES formatWhat size designs can my Bernette sew?
Depending on the model, Bernette embroidery machines commonly offer 100 × 100 mm, 130 × 180 mm and 150 × 240 mm hoops. Your largest hoop sets the largest design, so check which ones came with your machine and size the picture to fit with 5–10 mm to spare.
| Hoop | Sewing field | Typical models and uses |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 100 × 100 mm (3.9 × 3.9 in) | Left chest logos and small motifs |
| Medium | 130 × 180 mm (5.1 × 7.1 in) | T-shirt fronts and totes |
| Large | 150 × 240 mm (5.9 × 9.4 in) | Larger designs, depending on the model |
Accessory hoops vary by model, so check the list in your machine's manual. StitchMyPic sizes the design for the hoop you pick and warns you if it doesn't fit.
How do I get a design onto my Bernette?
Copy the unzipped .pes file to a FAT32 USB stick, plug it into the machine and open the design from the USB screen. Keep the file in the root folder with a short name, and eject the stick on your computer before unplugging it so the file isn't left half-written.
- 1Unzip the download and pick the .pes file (or the format your manual lists).
- 2Copy it to the root folder of a FAT32 USB stick.
- 3Eject the stick, plug it into the machine and open the USB screen.
- 4Select the design, check it fits the hoop and thread each stop from the production sheet.
Which file should I use if my Bernette doesn't list PES?
Look at the formats your manual lists and copy that one from the ZIP: every StitchMyPic download contains PES, DST, JEF and EXP exported from the same design, so the stitches are identical whichever you use. Only the colour information differs: PES and JEF carry it, DST and EXP don't.
